MO: Just by way of greeting, Jasper, today is the day after my – as always fascinating – travels back from Sedgefield where this time I camped in a forest hill with the lakes’ fisheagles, to reflect urgently again on an international problem we are all part of in further twists to the Isreal-Lebanon-Iran-Quatar Middle East wars, from drones to destructions. Does this sort of ‘problem never evaporated? Even in the village dorp at a bookstall café a charming local lady announces unsolicited that she was praying for Israel. Did that include prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu?.I ventured. Silence. No fish eagles in town?

MO: J H Ell: (real identity Joseph Levenstein), is a friend and associate from the old days of national student conferences in the 1960’s when he famously re-energised delegates to enjoy refocussing on various boundaries and borders and lines such as one imagined there were on, for example, tennis courts for famous players: substituted for rank unknown amateur student delegates. All this was entertainment. ‘Wake ups’ was a JH ELL series of to-and-fro tennis ball hits of various pitches and clicks, over the microphone – even in those tight days and nights before the cries of fish eagles could be heard?

JC: Jewish Springboks were all tough guy achievers too, but I don’t see much Jewish opinion anywhere these days. Reading this and seeing a podcast, both basically are at odds with how Jews are seen or treated. We used to see print about how well they were doing everywhere, especially in Israel. Not that I socialise much, but a four letter word beginning with “G” and rhyming with spaza is a sure fire conversation killer these days. I suppose we can thank Ben N?
